Merry COVID Christmas

A Message from Business Manager Kenn Bradley

This Christmas holiday will be unlike any we have ever had before but the true meaning of Christmas will remain the same. Many of the usual holiday get togethers will be smaller if they are not canceled all together. My family's grab bag party has been held at my mothers house the day after Christmas for the last 50 years, no matter how bad the weather was and includes up to 60 family members coming together from many different states throughout the United States, Covid will bring that streak to an end. We will adapt and make the best of the situation by spending more time at home with less family and friends.

Covid can not and will not stop us from giving, especially since the need is greater than ever this year, as a union we have donated thousands of dollars to area food banks. We also donated $1,000, plus some individual donations for toys, which Al Dean used to purchase and deliver toys to the annual Stuff The Bus event. Thanks to all those who donated for this event, it is greatly appreciated.

The holidays are always stressful and Covid has just added to the stress, I want everyone to remember that no matter what company you work for there is a benefit (EAP - Employee Assistance Program) that is under used but can help with stress and many other things so please look into the EAP where you work, it is confidential and very helpful.

Please continue to wear your mask and social distance when possible until we get through this pandemic, since the virus is one thing we do not want to give to our friends and family.

We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your family and hope that we will return to normal for 2021.

UCOMM PAC's mission is to marry the message of organized labor to candidates and causes dedicated to giving working people a seat at the table. That message; unity, social justice, equality, and economic opportunity for all Americans. Issues like Supporting Apprenticeship Language and Livable Wage legislation and strengthening the Right to Organize by Repealing 14b of the NLRA. All money donated is clean because it comes from working people. This Super PAC looks to assist labor-born candidates when the political parties fail to and is changing the reputation of Super PAC's as a political organization that can serve the greater good. During the last Presidential election, UCOMM PAC helped rebuild the Blue Wall for Biden, serving pro-union ads 604,000 times. Now, UCOMM PAC is looking to assist in GOTV operations for Labor's endorsed candidates for the Georgia US Senate runoff election. Make a donation today and help them change the political game for the greater good.

Honoring Our Veterans

On behalf of Local 29, we would like to extend our gratitude to all Veterans who have served and continue to serve. They selflessly chose to join our Armed Forces knowing that by doing so they were volunteering to take on sacrifices many Americans will never know. I would ask that tomorrow each of us take a moment to reflect on the men and women who have served our country; and if possible, reach out to a service member not only to thank them for their heroism but to also remind them that their sacrifices will not be forgotten.

Local 29, along with the Veterans Committee, would like to take this day to honor Military Veterans and acknowledge the opportunities their sacrifices have afforded us.

Anyone interested in joining the Veterans Committee please call the Union Hall.

Union Veterans Council

The Union Veterans Council brings working-class veterans together to speak out on the issues that impact us most, especially the need for good jobs and a strong, fully funded and staffed VA.

Additionally, we hold private enterprise and elected officials accountable for their words and actions.  We believe wholeheartedly that the ability for someone to self-identify as "pro-veteran" isn't determined by what lapel pin they don or what catchphrase they employ; veterans face real issues that require real actions-constructive actions that lead to positive solutions.

At the Union Veterans Council, we fight every day for those who have fought for us.
