During the month of February, IBEW 29 CSR's that work at Duquesne Light held a donation drive for our Union Sister Kim Schuck. Kim is a Shift-CSR who was diagnosed with cancer in April of 2019. After 7 months of treatments, she had been told she won the battle and was cancer free in November. Unfortunately her remission was short-lived and in the end of January, she was given the devastating news that not only is her cancer is back, but it is non-curable and extremely aggressive.
Kim has started aggressive chemo treatments to buy her as much time as possible to spend with her two daughters; Lexi who is finishing up her sophomore year at SRU and Brianna, who will be graduating from Montour High School this spring. Anyone who works with Kim knows she has a heart of gold and is always willing to help others. She has been known to put others needs before herself, and would be first to help a fellow co-worker or friend.
Being the sole-provider for her family and now, unable to work, has added even more stress and worry that she needs at this time. We are hoping the donations we collected from our brothers and sisters will help ease some of her burden and allow her to focus on fighting this disease and spending precious time making lasting memories with her daughters, mom and sisters.
Thank you, to all who donated to Kim in her time of need. With all the generous donations we received from our IBEW brothers and sisters, we have raised $4355.00 for Kim and her family!! We also have a tee shirt made with love from her CSR family and a lucky raffle ticket donated by a member! We are looking to do some additional fundraisers to help ease some of our Sister Kim's burden in providing for her family so she can focus on her fight and her daughters.
Thank you again to all who donated!
