PA AFL-CIO Scholarship Essay Contest

The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO is proud to again announce its Annual Scholarship Essay Contest. The essay contest provides students an opportunity to learn more about the Labor Movements involvement in the social and economic development of our country. The contest Is only open to Pennsylvania AFL-CIO affiliated union members and their families. All submissions must be postmarked by January 31, 2017.
 
Awards are offered to students in 2 categories: Graduating High School Seniors (class of 2016) and All Post-Secondary Students.
 
The award amounts are:
First Place - $2,000
Second Place -$1 ,000
Third Place- $500.
 
The essay topics for each category are as follows:
 
Category I - Graduating High School Seniors: "How Can Labor Unions Help Young Workers Get Their Fair Share in Today's Economy?"
 
Category II - Students Attending an Accredited, Post-Secondary Institution: "What are the Advantages for Workers in Joining a Union?"
