On September 28th IBEW 29’s community services committee, led by Bill Webb (he’s from the Northside) held another successful fundraiser, the gun bash has annually been their biggest and most successful fundraiser. The money raised (over $8500) goes to a few worthy local charities, one of those charities is the Woman’s shelter of Beaver County, each year Bill and the committee are able to purchase something different for them, that they are in need of and it really makes a difference in their day to day life. This is just one example of a great way, for our Union, to give back to the community and really help people that need it.
I believe Bill Webb started this tradition 9 years ago and I am hopeful it will continue on for many years to come. It will continue to be successful as long as we have members willing to put in the time and hard work it takes to hold an event like this, also we need the generosity of our members, along with family and friends to buy the tickets and attend the event. Bill is already working on finding a better venue for next years event.
From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank all those who helped before, during, and after the gun bash and to all those who attended and spent their hard-earned union wages to make this so successful. Every one of you should feel some type of pride in knowing that you are making a positive impact on others.
Don’t forget about STUFF THE BUS toy drive, to me it is the most rewarding event we have, to be able to put a smile on a child’s face is priceless, so please give what you can. If you are unable to get a toy or gift card, you can give cash to your Rep or send a check(IBEW 29) to the Hall by December 3rd and we will purchase toys or gift cards on your behalf.
