On July 22, 2018, we had our annual Idlewild picnic that that sold close to 500 tickets. The Union supplemented the cost of each ticket which included a face painter (which was a big hit with the little boys and girls), a buffet and drinks ( sorry only soft drinks, it’s a kids park) and each member was eligible to win a prize. All of the children were sworn in and took the IBEW oath to become honoree members for the day. The weather held up with only a 20-minute downpour during lunch and the drawing of prizes.
It was a job well done by the community services committee which is led by Bill Webb and includes Lynn Grant, Debbie Slaney, and Dave Kopp, without this committee (anyone interested in joining this committee please call the Union Hall), this and other events would not happen. I also want to thank all of the families that made it to the park and hope it was an enjoyable event for everyone.
The next event on the schedule is the Labor Day Parade, so come out and show the city of Pittsburgh what union pride is by marching with us and all of the other unions. It’s a family event and everyone that marches with us will get an IBEW 29 T-shirt and hat, also we have a picnic in the parking lot when we are done marching. Watch for flyers or check the website (IBEW29.org) for more information.
