Tragedy for two IBEW 29 members

Tuesday, August 7, 2018
In the last month, tragedy has struck twice for two young men of IBEW 29, one in a motorcycle accident, another lost his battle with cancer. I did not know either one personally, but I have learned more about both since they have passed.

Chris Pendigore at age 22 recently graduated from EDT school at the top of his class and had a bright future ahead of him working in the T&D department at Duquesne Light Company, where his father Kevin had recently retired from. Chris was well liked by all of his EDT classmates as well as all of the IBEW 29 members he worked with while interning at DLC.  Chris was a hard worker and good person for which his family should be proud of, and I am sure, responsible for the young man he became.

The other IBEW 29 member was Donald Beech 46 years old, who was a diesel mechanic starting his career with the family business, Beech’s Truck and Trailer Service. Don then brought his skills to Duquesne Light Company and IBEW 29 for the next 18 years, helping to keep all of the line trucks running smoothly so those men and women could do their jobs. I know Don took pride in his work and I am sure his wife and 3 children, along with the rest of his family, will always be proud of the man he was. Don lost his 2 year battle with cancer, but we can take solace that he is now at peace.

I ask that all IBEW members keep these 2 young men and their families in your prayers, and those of you that are closest to those families be there to give your support for anything they may need during this hard time. IBEW is a family and we need to be there for each other when needed. Both of these young men will be missed by family, friends and local 29 for a long time, may they rest in peace.
